Sofyan Ansori is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of Anthropology at Northwestern University. His research project examines relationships between humans and fires in light of the current climate crisis. Since 2015, his ethnographic work engages specifically with how Indigenous communities in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia, navigate their thoughts and actions amid the recurring massive fires and the state’s ongoing desire to enforce anti-fire policies.
S. Paramita Budhi Utami graduated from the Department of Anthropology at FISIP UI in 1997, and obtained a Master’s degree in Humanitarian Actions from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID), Université de Genève, Switzerland, in 2005-2006. Since graduating, she has worked in international institutions involved in humanitarian work and nature conservation. In 2008, she started working as a freelance researcher for baseline, monitoring, and evaluation for foreign non-governmental organizations empowering communities in Indonesia. She is also a non-permanent lecturer at FISIP UI, FEB UI, and the UI Tourism Vocational Study Program. From 2009 to 2018, she managed the Center for Anthropological Studies and served as a senior researcher.
Rista Helvia graduated in Department of Anthropology from Universitas Indonesia in 2021. She has been working as a project manager in various research initiatives. She has a strong interest in project optimization and stakeholder engagement. Her experience as a freelance researcher has equipped her with the skills to manage complex projects effectively.
A freelance researcher and a public program maker – recently finished a masters program in Digital Anthropology at UCL. Has a strong interest in various forms of media, such as documentary films, photography, music, sound, and the internet (and its culture). Firmly believes that media cannot escape from its context and issues that surrounds it. Working in between digital ethnography, film programming, and what not.
Gemilang is a junior environmental social researcher with over 4 years of research experience on climate governance and the sustainability sector. He obtained his bachelor’s degree and graduated cum laude from the Department of Anthropology Universitas Gadjah Mada in 2021.
Hafiz Awlia Ramadhan graduated from Department of Anthropology at FISIP UI in 2014 and have been working as a freelance researcher for 10 years with extensive experience on ethnographic based research on livelihood, sustainable land use, and social mapping issue. Now he is working as a research assistant at CIFOR-ICRAF for KELOLA Project
Hanina Naura Fadhila recently obtained her bachelor degree from Department of Anthropology Universitas Indonesia in 2023. The venture of undergraduate studies has shaped her interest towards the discussion of political ecology in Southeast Asian context. Currently, she is seeking an opportunity to pursue her career aspiration in academic research.
Ignatia Dyahapsari, also known as Riri is an independent researcher and graphic recorder. She holds an MA in social anthropology from SOAS. Many of her current work combines research and visual storytelling through illustration and animation. She has a strong interest in art, marine conservation and material art.

After getting a Bachelor’s degree in Cultural Anthropology from Universitas Gadjah Mada in 2022, Michael Don Lopulalan has been working as freelance in various research projects focusing on livelihoods and landscapes. He also working at the Forum Film Dokumenter, serving as staff for the Database Program, to developing Indonesia’s documentary film database, filmdokumenter.id.
Josef Christofer Benedict is a research enthusiast passionate in development, cultural, and disparity studies. Since graduating from Gadjah Mada University’s Sociology Department in 2022, he has contributed to various research projects. He currently works as an Analyst at Integrity Asia and a Research Assistant at Kompas.
a UI anthropology graduate, he has actively participated in several research projects that primarily focus on addressing social issues such as livelihood and land use in communities located around forest areas.
A final-year anthropology student deeply passionate about ethnography and technology. With a strong background in programming, he led IT Security projects for QRIS and ASABRI. Currently, he serves as an IT Security Consultant for BARESKRIM POLRI, specializing in cybersecurity.
